This twenty-seven-room landmark was built in 1808.  Except for the first
twenty years, when this building was run as a tavern; it has been a private
home with each generation of the Smith family welcoming guests on a
small scale.  


   
     

Robert Frost and past governors have slept here.  In 1969, owner Donna
Smith started the Bed & Breakfast as a "real home away from home,
with a noncommercial style of hosting." In any corner of this enchanting
Inn, you will find beautiful antiques, treasured family heirlooms, classic
paintings, and over 220 years of Vermont history...


                       


This treasure has been discovered by 'Country Living' and 'Yankee'
magazines.  Our visitors range from: artisan quilters, theorem painters,
retreat planners, photographers, families and friends.... from all over the
world!
       

                 


Everyone who visits comments about our "true Vermont hospitality,"
where visitors can experience a genuine seventh generation Vermont
farm, and witness our daily routine.  In the springtime, visitors can expect
to see Jeff tapping the maple trees, and beginning the process of making
 our authentic maple syrup in the barn. Guests will find that each room
has its own unique style and personailty, and often have a hard time
choosing which room(s) are their favorite.


                               

                                       


Undoubtedly, you will experience a home cooked breakfast, accompanied
by our own homemade maple syrup.  The dining room looks out onto our
 garden.  A cozy spot to enjoy your morning coffee and enjoy the sunlight.

      



             
Within the Inn, there are six large rooms, each with a double and a
single bed (all new custom matresses); with woodstoves in some of the
rooms.  One first floor room with a half bath, shares full bath with second
 floor rooms... 


                         

In addition to our rooms, there are two private  apartments available.  Apartments sleep 5 people.  Cots and cribs are available if needed.  Great for large groups, or just for those who like a little more room to move around.  


ROOM RATES:
Include tax, room, and breakfast.  $40.00 single, $56.00 double with shared bath, and $62.00 with private half-bath.  Room rates include a full country meal of bacon, eggs, buttermilk pancakes, homemade muffins, and jams with our award-winning maple syrup!  Breakfast is served from 8-9:30 A.M.

APARTMENT RATES:  
$85.00 for two adults plus $10.00 for each additional adult, and $5.00 per child.  (Apartments will be charged extra for breakfast if farmhouse seating is available).
*One night's deposit is required with a two-night minimum stay during
holidays and foliage season.
